Spell Explanations

Both the Divine and Arcane spell systems have been completely reimagined for the Oath-Bound setting. The vanilla spell lists, their descriptions, and the GM guidance for adjudicating them do not apply. The replacement catalogs are the authoritative reference for what is available and how it works.

Spells Special Commentary for Refereeing (p.41) ss

Superseded. GM guidance on spell adjudication is provided within the respective catalog documents rather than as a separate section. Edge cases and interpretation principles are addressed in context there.

Cleric Spells (p.41) ss

Superseded. Cleric spells are replaced by the Divine Actor miracle system. Miracles are not memorized or prepared — they are accessed through concord, fidelity, and Foundation authorization. The Miracle Catalog is the authoritative reference.

Druid Spells (p.43) ss

Superseded. Druids are not a separate class in Oath-Bound. Characters of druidic orientation advance as Divine Actors within an appropriate nature-based Foundation. Their domain capabilities — including any working analogous to druid spells — are addressed within the Divine Actor system.

Magic-User Spells (p.44) ss

Superseded. Magic-user spells are replaced by the Arcane Actor nwyf shaping model. Arcane workings are not memorized from a spellbook — they are shaped through developed competency and concentration, governed by exhaustion rather than slot recovery. The Spell Catalog is the authoritative reference.

Illusionist Spells (p.46) ss

Superseded. Illusionists are not a separate class in Oath-Bound. The illusionist archetype is an Arcane Actor whose practice emphasizes perception-layer nwyf shaping — a specialization within the arcane domain, not a distinct category. Their available workings are within the Spell Catalog.
